Hello Pond Hopper Nation! My name is Greg Ferris and I have been hooked on fishing ever since I was a kid growing up in the suburbs of Chicago and fishing every chance I could when we went camping on the weekends. I love the diversity of fishing for various species in different types of water, but with living in Iowa, bass, crappie and bluegill are what I target most often.
About 8 years ago I bought my first kayak to fish from because I wanted to get out on the water on small lakes and ponds where a boat wasn't practical or I just wanted to get out for a couple hours. After fishing from a kayak for a couple years, I started looking for a better alternative that kept the ease of use and accessibility, but would allow me to address the issues I was having with the kayak. What I was looking for was stability where I felt safe standing, to get off the water so I could effectively pitch, the ability to move without having to stop fishing, and more space for gear. What I discovered was that there wasn't anything out there that perfectly suited my diverse mission, and so I decided to leverage my passion and 30 years experience with product development, and began the development of the Trident Explorer.
I talked with fisherman out on the water, inside several different retail fishing stores and so on along with visiting with various dealers who had very deep expertise to draw from. Several refinements later, we launched the Trident Explorer Watercraft in 2022. It has been an awesome experience, and I'm looking forward to continuing to work hard to build boats that meet the needs of a diverse cross-section of fisherman.
